My Favorite Form of Therapy

"My Favorite Form of Therapy"

I never thought I would enjoy cooking as much as I do now. Growing up, I watched my mom cooking meals, but to be honest, I never paid much attention back then. Cooking felt like a chore, something I would rather avoid. Fast forward a few years, and guess what? The kitchen has become one of my favorite places to be. It's where I find a sense of calm and creativity. Now, I randomly decide to experiment with the new recipes just for fun—it's my way of de-stressing. Who knew cooking could be so calming, crazy right?

It all started when I tried making an omelet for the first time. I was around 15 and thought it would be easy. How hard could it be to cook an egg in the pan? Well, turned out it wasn’t as simple as I thought . I ended up burning the egg. It got stuck to the pan and the whole thing was a disaster. I was so frustrated! But instead of giving up, I tried again . Overtime, I got better and started to realize that cooking is actually a lot of fun.

These days, my go-to dish is pasta. I could probably eat it everyday without getting bored. It’s the only dish I can’t get enough of. I love making pasta because it’s simple to make yet you can get so creative with it. I like to add whatever I have at home - chicken, beef, cheese and vegetables to my pasta. Sometimes I go for classic marinara, while at other times I make a creamy Alfredo. The best part? It's the smells while it's cooking. The garlic sizzling in the olive oil, the fresh herbs and the melted cheese. It's like heaven in a pan.

Of course, I have had plenty of kitchen fails. Once I was trying to bake a cake and I forgot to add baking powder. It was like eating a brick- literally. But you know what? That’s the beauty of cooking. You mess up, you learn and you get better next time. The best dishes come after a few disasters in the kitchen!

Cooking has become my way to relax and escape from the daily stress. It’s kind of like therapy but way cheaper and of course tastier. There is something oddly therapeutic about chopping veggies. It’s like cutting off my problems- each slice help me unwind. Cooking is more than just a hobby for me now—it’s how I clear my mind and find a little peace amidst the chaos of everyday life.

The absolute best part ? Cooking for people I love. It’s my way of showing love for the people I care about. Seeing them enjoy what I made is the best feeling. It’s not just about food, it’s about bringing people together and making memories. Those moments, when everyone is together and enjoying a meal, are priceless to me.

So yeah, cooking is more than making food to eat. It’s a way to relax and connect with the people i care about. If you have never tried cooking, I would definitely recommend giving it a shot. Start simple–like with an omelet ( just don’t burn it like i did on my first try!). You might mess up a few times, but that's part of the fun. And who knows? You might end up loving it as much as I do.
