Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy : The Cultural Hub of Bangladesh

The shilpakala academy, established in 1974 is the most vital cultural institute in Bangladesh holding the essence of culture and heritage of the country. Since its establishment it’s been upholding the diverse and rich artistic heritage of Bangladesh to the local and International communities, it’s been a platform for cultural enthusiasts to showcase and explore the artistic traditions of the country. 






It’s a unique institution that embraces a wide range of disciplines such as painting, music, dance, drama, sculpture etc. It’s a bridge between the traditional and modern age society, upholding and preserving our cultural heritage through nurturing every form of artistic expression. It features some state of the art facilities such as theaters, auditoriums, studios and art galleries and the building itself is a architectural beauty often holding exhibitions and performances providing opportunities to children  just starting out on their journey in the arts field to experienced artists honing their skills. It also holds international exhibitions as well. 


Some Days back i got to experience such an event, as i love visiting places me and my friends decided to visit the Shilpakala Academy, after reaching there we were amazed by the serene environment wrapping around the Shilpakala Academy as we went on to explore the building we got to know that a japanese calligraphy exhibition and an art exhibition were being held. We got to experience the richness of the japanese culture through the exhibition, there were japanese quotes written in an artistic manner and we were excited to see different paintings in the art exhibition gallery, the arts unfolding different stories through their art. We wrapped up our visit by going to the garden and there were a variety of flowers in there, which gave us a rush of joy, overall the visit to such a prestigious institution gave us the opportunity to experience such rich cultural and artistic heritage of the country. 




The shilpakala academy is not just an art institution it is a symbol of national pride and identity, which represents the soul of Bangladesh.
