My family tour to Sylhet
Discovering the Tranquility of Sylhet: A Family Adventure
Introduction: My family was very keen on having a rest far from the city and city’s sounds for a rather long time. Finally, after sitting and discussing it for some time, we were able to decide on our very own Sylhet; which in Bangladesh is a Green Tea Garden area, has hilly territories and generally has a peaceful environment. All I can say is that the place is so fitting in terms of enjoyment especially for family.
Day 1: We started our journey in the morning and we arrived sylhet, the weather was so hot but there was a pleasant stream of air and tea garden around. The first place that was visited was the famous Malnichera Tea Estate, which is one of the oldest tea gardens of the country. The prospect of the numerous islands of green that stretched out with the tea pickers was wonderful. I did take a leisurely walk in the garden in the morning and learn how they plant and process tea and having tea from fresh brewed tea. After being food wanderers for a while, we headed to the Sylhet Tea Museum which made us realize the history of tea. The children were most drawn to the working of the stoned machinery and several exhibits were more appealing to kiddos.
Day 2: (The second day Sylhet – Shopping & Spiritual and Scenic Sites) We woke up early as we were to go for a shopping spree followed by the spiritual and scenic sites in Sylhet. We paid our first visit to the famous Hazrat Shah Jalal Mazar Sharif which is a significant attractin for so many loving devotees all over the country. The atmosphere was calm and the ringing of prayers a soothing pitch! It was touching to many of the persons present. We then went to the Ratargul swamp forest, which is naturally a very fascinating place to visit, it left us amazed or astonished. Sailing through the winding streams with dense vegetation on both banks just gave the feeling of having entered into another world. The kids really loved the boat ride and we all were very much happy in having the chance to watch different species of birds and other creatures.
Day 3: (Visit to Jaflong) On the last day of the journey, we visited Jaflong which is one of the famous tourist spot The location is at the border of India. The trip was very eventful and looked like winding up in hundreds and thousands of miles, going up to mountains and valleys. Jaflong is well famous for the view of the Khasi Hills and the water of the Dawki River. To cap this day, we spent the whole day eating a picnic along the river banks crossing over rocks and feeling the beauty of a nature around us. Travelling to the quarries gave us knowledge about the lifestyle of the people and we also picked some of the stones as souvenir.
Day 4: A day at Srimangal On the last day of our trip, we moved to Srimangal, also called as the ‘Tea Capital of Bangladesh’ The tour highlight for the day was the visit to the Lawachara National Park where we went for a nature walk through the Rainforest hearing the sweet melodies of the birds and the sight of the monkeys jumping from one branch to the other. Further we visited a pineapple farm where the children enjoyed the juicy pineapples which is freshly harvested. Before leaving Srimangal we bought seven layers tea which is available there to have it at our home.
Conclusion: This is why our family trip, which could have been the opposite, did turn out to be everything and more that we anticipate. The beauty of natural environment, the richness of colourful culture and warm hospitality are some of the factors that made the experience out of the ordinary. Sylhet helped us get closer to nature to explore some unique places for the first time and luckily we were able to spend some quality time as a family. So for the person willing to get some quality time and Luxury, Sylhet should certainly top the list of your list of holiday destinations.
