ICC T20 WC Final(IND vs SA)

Cricket is the king of the games & sports! And one of the biggest events in the world of cricket is the World Cup! And the most popular tournament among these World Cups is the ICC T20 WC. At least in my opinion, it is the most popular of the Cricket World Cups. People who watch and follow cricket regularly are undoubtedly  Accept it and don't see any reason to disagree! Because it ends the game in 3.5-4 hours at most! That's why it's gaining equal popularity with football. It's not too long ago that this new version of cricket has emerged! But it's its  Within a short period of time, cricket has become very popular among fans!

The
ICC Men's T20 World Cup (formerly the ICC World Twenty20) is a biennial T20 cricket tournament, organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) every 2 years since its inauguration in 2007 with the exception of 2011, 2018 and 2020. This event was rebranded from ICC World Twenty20 to ICC Men's T20 World Cup in November 2018.[1] India are the current champions and also the joint most successful side with West Indies and England after winning their 2nd title in the 2024 Tournament.

India's popular cricketer and world's best batsman Virat Kohli is at the top of the list of highest run scorers in this edition of World Cup. He has scored 1,292 runs in this edition of World Cup. World's best all-rounder is at the top of the list of highest wicket takers.  Shakib Al Hasan is the popular cricketer of Bangladesh. His wickets are the most in this edition of the World Cup! He has taken 50 wickets in this edition of World Cup.  Gained reputation.

As of 2024, nine editions have so far been played and a total of 24 teams have competed. Six national teams have won the T20 World Cup so far. Three teams, West Indies (2012, 2016), England (2010, 2022) and India (2007, 2024) have won the competition twice each. Pakistan (2009), Sri Lanka (2014), and Australia (2021) have one title each.

Now let's come to the main point. India and South Africa made it to the finals of this World Cup. Even though both teams lost their knockout matches, they choked! These incidents became a regular thing in every tournament. That's why cricket fans nicknamed these 2 teams Chokers.  .But it is unbelievable that South Africa reached the final for the first time in their cricket history and played the final. They used to reach the highest semi and went home. That's why the fans gave them the title Chokers forever. This time they got a chance to erase this bad title!  On the other hand, India have been playing with recent chokers for the last 11 years. However, their condition is not as bad as South Africa. They have played the semi-finals and finals of the major ICC events and tournaments many times! But still, they did not have Saturn in the last 11 years.  There was no way they could win their titles! They would have choked in the semi-final or final of the event! They could not become champions! So this was a golden opportunity for them to erase and destroy their bad reputation!

It was the clash between two big titans teams! Both the teams were equally strong! It was clear that no one would be willing to concede a single hair/point to anyone. In the group stage India was in Group-A.India's opponents in that group were respectively  Their arch-rivals Pakistan, USA, Canada and IRELAND. India won 3 out of the 4 matches scheduled for them. The remaining match against Canada was abandoned due to rain and both teams were content with sharing the points with 1 point each and were group champions and undefeated in the 2nd round.  It means entering the 2nd group stage/Super Eight. On the other hand, in the group stage, South Africa was in Group-D. In that group, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Netherlands and Nepal were respectively the opponents of South Africa. The interesting thing here is that South Africa has their own nerves in all their matches.  By holding all the close close matches and being able to take out the group champion and undefeated, the 2nd round means the 2nd group stage/Super Eight!

In the matches of Super Eight/Second group stage, India falls into the group of Group-1. In the Super Eight, India has one of the title contenders of the tournament, former world champion Favorite Mighty Australia, Dark Horse Afghanistan and Dark Horse Afghanistan as their opponents in the Super Eight.  Our favorite hope is Underdog Bangladesh. On the other hand, in the matches of Super Eight/Second group stage, South Africa falls into Group-2 group. South Africa has as opponent in their group in Super Eight, one of the title contenders, the previous champion, defending champion and one of the favorite of the tournament.  England, taking part in the tournament for the first time and having the opportunity to host and play the USA and the former world champion and another host country West Indies. As usual and coincidentally in both the groups India from Group-1 and South Africa from Group-2 did not give the opponent a single chance to win.  Nastanabood and Dumde Mochde undefeated group champions and advanced to Semifinal.

In Semifinal-1, South Africa take on Afghanistan, who are playing in a semi-final for the first time in a major ICC event, as their opponents. But unfortunately, South Africa won against Afghanistan by a big margin and went to the final for the first time in their cricket history. Batting first, Afghanistan were bowled out for just 56 runs after playing 11.5 overs.  .reached the set target of 57 runs in 5 overs and left the field with a huge victory by 9 wickets. Afghanistan's batting collapse was the main reason for their loss. Also, mainly the pressure of big matches like semi-finals and inexperience of not playing regularly against big teams like South Africa and South Africa.  Afghanistan lost to the experience of Africa. On the other hand, India faced England in the 2nd semi-final. They had the same opponent in the semi-final of the previous season and India suffered a huge defeat by 10 wickets against England and England went on to become the world champions. So it is one for India too.  It was a huge opportunity for them to erase the gloom of the previous season's failure and go to the final by defeating England and take sweet revenge by defeating them.  score. Not being able to play the entire 20 overs, they lost 10 wickets for 103 runs in just 16.4 overs and were all out to India. In this match, the Indian spinners showed great skill to snatch the victory and India won their ICC T20 WC.  Qualified to play in the finals for the 3rd time in history.

Finally on June 29, India and South Africa, who played well and were unbeaten throughout the tournament, met in the final.  World Cup final on June 29, Barbados. The final starts at 8:30 PM Bangladesh time. The venue of the match was Kensington Oval Barbados Stadium. The Kensington Oval is a stadium located in the western part of Bridgetown, Barbados. The toss is around 8 PM. As usual, the toss  Directed by popular commentator Ravi Shastri.IND won the toss and decided to bat.

A clash of the titans indeed in this world cup final. India's XI was Rohit Sharma(C), Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant(Wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Axar Patel, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav & Jasprit Bumrah respectively.  South Africa lined up their XI with Reeza Hendricks, Quinton de Kock(Wk), Aiden Markram(C), Tristan Stubbs, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje & Tabraiz Shamsi respectively.

To open the innings for India, "Hitman" Rohit Sharma and "King Kohli" Virat Kohli came to the opening respectively. Rohit Sharma stayed at the striking end and Virat Kohli stood at the non-striking end. On the other hand, South African captain Aiden Markram started the bowling innings for South Africa.  The ball was given to the young bowler Marco Jansen at the beginning. He started bowling from over the wicket. Rohit opened the run book with just 1 run in the 1st ball and sent Kohli on strike. In the 2nd ball of the over, a beautiful, spectacular, beautiful cover drive shot.  Kohli hit the ball out of bounds by hitting these four. Similarly, in the 3rd ball of the innings, Kohli played the same shot in the same over, but this time on the leg side and got a boundary. In the 4th ball, he took 2 runs and returned to striking again by striking rotation. The 5th ball was a dot ball. The end of the over.  Ball number 6 hit a spectacular boundary again but this time on a straight drive shot. His shot was reminding me again and again in the words of one person that he is none other than little master, master blaster, Cricket God Sachin Tendulkar. India scored 15 runs in the 1st over, which  It gave them a flying start. Among them, 14 runs came to Kohli's benefit. In the 2nd over, South Africa brought their spinner Keshav Maharaj into the attack. In this over, Rohit Sharma came to strike. He hit 2 boundaries in 2 consecutive balls. The 1st was a cut shot and the 2nd ball was reverse.  Four hits in the sweep. The 3rd ball is dotted. The next ball is the 4th ball he gives a catch to Heinrich Klaasen standing at cover on the leg side. In this India lose their 1st wicket by 23 runs. Rohit Sharma returns to Sajghar with 9(5). Then one comes to the wicket.  Rishabh Pant came down. He doted the 1st ball and played a sweep in the last ball of the 2nd over with his 2nd ball. Due to miss timing, he caught the wicket keeper Quinton de Kock behind the wicket. He got out for 0 runs in 2 balls and walked to the pavilion.  Losing 2 big batsmen of the top order, India fell into some trouble, pressure and danger at the beginning! They needed someone who can build up the innings and play for innings. Who can basically play the anchoring role. He is none other than Virat.  Kohli could do it! Even though he was a shadow of himself throughout the tournament, flopped, out of form, the Indian team management trusted him for his experience and he was a big match player and they also believed that Kohli was a World Cup finalist.  He will win the team by performing on the big stage and he has that ability. There was no doubt in their minds about this. Then Suryakumar Yadav came to the wicket.

In 3.4 overs, Kohli hits a 4 off Maharaj. Suryakumar bowls Rabada in 4.3 overs, caught by Klaasen on the leg side, gifting Rabada his own wicket and returning for 3(3) runs.  In this the scoreline of India stands at 34-3. Then the next batsman Axar Patel came to the wicket. He opened his account of runs in his 1st ball with 4 overs. Then he started the game in a striking manner. 7.3 overs i.e. 3rd ball of the 8th over he South African captain Markram  He hit a six. After that he hit another six in the same way in 8.4 overs but this time by Maharaj. After this six his partner Kohli also gave him a thumbs up. After that he hit the ball in 11.5 overs South African left-arm unorthodox spinner chinaman  Bowler Shamsi was hit by Axar for the 3rd six of his innings. India's run on the scoreboard was 91-3 in 11.5 balls. After that, Axar started the over by hitting Rabada with a huge six in the 1st ball of the 13th over. At this time, India made a fairly good pair.  On one side, Kohli was playing the innings and on the other side, Axar was playing aggressively. In 13.3 overs of the same over, Rabada's delivery in 13.3 overs dramatically led to a misunderstanding with Kohli and Axar was run out and returned to the dressing room. Axar's amazing innings came to a very disappointing end.  Through run out. He was run out by South African wicketkeeper de Kock. Axar was out for 47(31). India's scorecard was 106-4 in 13.3 overs. Then Shivam Dube came to the wicket. Dube hit a six off Jansen in 14.1 overs.  After that, Shamsi hit another four in 15.5 overs. Kohli then completed his half-century.

Kohli completed his half-century in 16.5 overs. He played 48 balls to reach 50. Dube ended the over with a four off the last ball of Nortje's over. Rabada's 18th over started with a huge six from Kohli. Even this was the 1st of his innings.  There was also a six. In the next ball, Kohli came on strike again after scoring 2 runs in the 3rd ball. He did strike rotation like this, through strike rotation he was also keeping the run rate active. In the 3rd ball, he hit a four with the help of a pull shot and the ball was out of bounds.

In the next over i.e. in the 19th over 18.2 overs, Kohli hit Jansen for another boundary. Kohli came on strike again in the 4th ball with 2 runs in the 3rd ball of the over. Kohli hit a huge six in the 4th ball. The way Kohli hit this six is usually his "signature shot".  Counted. Truly that six was wonderful. Six to watch! But Kohli was caught out by fielder Rabada while hitting the same six on the next ball. Virat Kohli played a wonderful knock of 76(59). He was palmed by Jansen's ball.  He played a very effective and responsible innings. His tremendous innings was decorated with mesmerizing 6 fours and 2 sixes. Who could have imagined that this would be King's last T20 innings! His last T20 world cup.  So even this was the last T20 match of his career. Then Hardik Pandya came to the wicket. Hardik started his innings with a 4 over the wicketkeeper's head on the last ball of the over and on his 1st ball. Then in the 20th over i.e. 19.3 overs Nortje  Dube hits four. Dube is caught out by Miller on the next ball. His wicket is taken by Nortje. He departs for 27(16). Ravindra Jadeja then comes to the wicket. He takes 2 runs on the 1st ball and is out on the last ball of the innings.  He took 2 runs off 2 balls as he bowled Nortje's last ball and was palmed by Maharaj.  India's innings ended at 176-7 in 20 overs. South Africa needed 177 runs in 20 overs to win. It is good to say here that to win this match, South Africa had to chase the highest run in the history of World Cup finals. Such runs have not happened in any final before. 8.85 run rate is also needed.  It was for them to win.

South Africa started their innings with Reeza Hendricks & Quinton de Kock as the opening pair. South Africa started their innings with them. Arshdeep Singh came to bowl the 1st over for India. In the last ball of the over, Hendricks hit Arshdeep for four with a lovely shot to end the over.  In the 1st over, South Africa picked up only 6 runs. After that, Jasprit Bumrah gave India the first wicket in 1.3 overs. He took the stumps of Hendricks with a perfect outswing outswinger. Hendricks was bowled out and returned to the dressing room. Actually  Hendricks did not understand the bowl tie. Hendricks departed for 4(5). South Africa lost their 1st wicket by 7 runs. The next batsman to come in was South African captain Aiden Markram.  In the next over, meaning 2.3 overs, Arshdeep's ball was edged and Markram was caught behind the wicket by wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and returned to Sajghar. Markram was also dismissed for 4(5). South Africa lost their second wicket by 12 runs.  But still their hope was on their next batsman, among whom the names of batsman Quinton de Kock, Tristan Stubbs, Heinrich Klaasen & David Miller were notable. Then the next batsman Tristan Stubbs came to the wicket.  Stubbs hit another four with a good shot off Axar in 4.2 overs. Then in the last ball of the 6th over, de Kock hit Kuldeep offside for a four. This is how South Africa finished the over.  The Power Play ended. At the end of the Power Play, South Africa's score stood at 42-2. 6.3 overs off Axar's ball, Stubbs hit four again. Stubbs hit Kuldeep for a four on the 1st ball of the 7.1 over. Stubbs started the over. Stubbs played an aggressive and aggressive role.  De Kock hit Kuldeep for a huge six on the leg side on the last ball of this over. It was a spectacular six like it goes like a skyrocket. This is how South Africa took control of the game again. At the end of 8 overs, their runs stood at 62,by losing 2 wickets.

In the 9th over, right at the start of 8.1 overs, Stubbs hit a six off Axar to begin the over. However, in the same over, on the 8.5th ball, Axar bowled out Stubbs, bringing some relief to India. Stubbs returned to the pavilion after scoring 31 off 21 balls, including 3 fours and 1 six. South Africa was 70-3 after 8.5 overs. Then came another explosive South African batsman, Heinrich Klaasen. In Hardik Pandya’s over, on the 9.4th ball, after playing three consecutive dot balls, Klaasen opened up his game by hitting a six. Later, on the 10.3rd ball of Jadeja's over, Klaasen hit a massive six with a straight shot, sending the ball over the boundary. On the 11.3rd ball, Klaasen hit another huge six off Kuldeep through the offside, taking South Africa to 100 runs. Klaasen was playing aggressively.

In the next over, on the 12.2nd ball, de Kock hit Arshdeep for a four on the leg side. But on the very next ball, trying to play a similar shot, he got caught by fielder Kuldeep on the leg side, as per Team India's plan. De Kock was out for 39 off 31 balls, which included 4 fours and 1 six. South Africa was at 106-4 in 12.3 overs, and the game became intense. This final didn’t feel one-sided like previous ones; it was full of excitement, a real roller-coaster ride. At one moment, victory seemed to be in India’s favor, and at other times, it tilted towards South Africa. Then, David Miller, known as “Killer Miller,” came to the crease, and Klaasen continued his aggressive batting.

In the 13.5th over, Miller hit a four off Kuldeep, followed by a six on the last ball of the over. On the very first ball of the 14.1st over, Klaasen hit Axar for a straight four, which was truly a terrific shot. On the third ball of the same over, Klaasen kneeled down and hit a huge six on the leg side, sending the ball straight to the stadium's roof. On the very next ball, he hit another massive six off Axar, and on the fifth ball, Klaasen smashed another six through the offside. This increased South Africa’s chances of winning significantly. After this over, South Africa needed just 30 runs from the last 5 overs, meaning they required just a run per ball. It seemed like India was on the verge of losing, but there was still some twist and suspense left in the match, which kept both TV viewers and the stadium crowd hooked!

After Axar’s over, Bumrah, India’s match-winning bowler, came to bowl the next over. He had single-handedly won many pressure games for India, including one against Pakistan in this World Cup. On the 15.2nd ball, Klaasen completed his half-century by scoring 51 off 23 balls, and South Africa reached 150-4. At that moment, India was at 119-4 while South Africa was at 150-4, leading by 31 runs. However, Bumrah bowled a tight over, allowing only 4 runs, creating pressure on the South African batsmen. By the end of the 4 overs, South Africa needed 26 runs from 24 balls.

Then Hardik came to bowl and immediately provided India a breakthrough by getting Klaasen out. Klaasen, playing a wide-length ball off the off stump, was caught by the wicketkeeper. His explosive innings ended at 52 runs off 27 balls, including 2 fours and 5 magnificent sixes. South Africa was now at 151-5. Marco Jansen, known for his power-hitting, came to the crease. In Bumrah’s next over, on the 17.4th ball, Jansen was bowled out by a perfect inswinging delivery after scoring just 2 off 4 balls. At this point, India was seriously back in the game, with South Africa at 156-6. Keshav Maharaj then came to the crease.

In the 19th over, Arshdeep bowled brilliantly, giving away only 5 runs, leaving South Africa needing 16 runs from the last over. Hardik Pandya, known as "Kung-fu Pandya," was given the responsibility to bowl the crucial 20th over by Indian captain Rohit Sharma. On the very first ball, Miller, trying to convert a wide yorker into a low full toss, got caught at the boundary by Suryakumar Yadav, who took an incredible catch after covering a lot of ground. This catch almost sealed the World Cup for India. If he had missed that catch, the World Cup might have slipped from India's hands. With Miller out for 21 off 17 balls, South Africa was at 161-7.

Rabada came in next and hit a four on the first ball through the third-man area, leaving the equation at 12 runs required from 4 balls!

1B 19.3: Hardik Pandya to Kagiso Rabada, Bye! Smartly bowled! Rolls his fingers over the ball and angles it away, on off, on a nagging length, Kagiso Rabada swings to go back over the bowler's head but misses out. The ball goes on the bounce to the keeper and the batters sneak in a bye. 11 required now off 3.1LB 19.4: Hardik Pandya to Keshav Maharaj, Leg bye! Just one off it! Full and at the batter, Keshav Maharaj clears his front leg to have a swipe across the line. STRAIGHT TO THE FIELDER! That should be the game and the World Cup to India! Final nail in the coffin for South Africa. Full and going across the left-hander, on off, Kagiso Rabada looks to get underneath it but only manages to skew it off the toe end of the bat. It goes flat and straight to long off where Suryakumar Yadav takes an easy catch this time.Anrich Nortje is the new man in for South Africa.1 19.6: Hardik Pandya to Anrich Nortje, INDIA HAVE PULLED OFF A HEIST TO BECOME THE 2024 ICC MEN'S T20 WORLD CUP CHAMPIONS! Hardik Pandya has done it for the Men in Blue! Absolute ecstasy for Rohit Sharma and his men. Agony for South Africa. Pandya hurls it full and slanting in, on middle and leg, Anrich Nortje backs away to have a swipe across the line. Gets it off the inner half of the bat and it dribbles to deep mid-wicket for just a single and the Proteas are in utter disbelief, spare a thought for them, they fought bravely but the Indians had more experience at this stage. A 7-run victory for the Men in Blue and emotions are running wild on the field.IND won by 7 runs!Against South Africa!

INDIA ARE T20 WORLD CHAMPIONS AFTER 17 YEARS! It's been a long, long wait for India and they now join West Indies and England as the only three teams to have won the Men's T20 World Cup two times. You really couldn't ask for more, what a grand finale we have had here in Barbados and both sides gave it their all! The Indian players are up in ecstasy and the playing field is flooded by the dugout. The crowd is at the top of its lungs and it's another heartbreak for South Africa, they simply couldn't get it done. Rohit Sharma is down in tears, as he was after the 2023 World Cup final - but this time, these are tears of joy. You really have to hand it to the Indian side, they were down and out but what redemption this is for the Men in Blue.

India have pulled a rabbit out of the hat here! When Axar Patel conceded 24 runs in that 15th over, everything seemed over but the pacers fought back valiantly and that catch from Suryakumar Yadav really was the cherry on the top. After having set a target of 177 runs for the Proteas, the pacers began on the money and even though they got hit for a few boundaries, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh managed to pick up a wicket each to balance things out. The spinners couldn't deliver and were put away for plenty of runs in the middle overs. Hardik Pandya too stepped up and provided fantastic support to the frontline pacers. The last five overs were simply phenomenal from the Indian pacers and didn't allow South Africa any breathing space and kept the pressure on with dot balls and wickets at the same time. Eventually, their hard work shone through and they managed to defend the score by 7 runs to send over a billion people into ecstasy.

There are tears in the South African camp as well but those of heartbreak and they could feel the trophy slip out of their grasp in those death overs. Quinton de Kock set the tempo up top and even when the likes of Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram flopped, de Kock and Tristan Stubbs got their side in a position of promise. Stubbs fell and so did de Kock after a while but it really was Heinrich Klaasen who turned on the heat and played the knock of his life at the biggest stage. However, his seemingly title-clinching knock was cut short at a vital stage and from that point on, the Proteas simply couldn't get going. They crumbled under pressure and all eyes were on David Miller but he left things too late and was caught brilliantly in the deep by Suryakumar Yadav which was the final nail in the coffin. So close yet so far for South Africa yet again and their hunt for a maiden ICC trophy at the senior level continues.

Earlier in the game, Rohit Sharma won the toss and had no hesitation batting first which has been the norm for the Indian team - setting targets and defending them throughout this World Cup. After early setbacks and some stellar bowling from the Proteas, Virat Kohli was the beacon of hope for India and played an anchor knock after a fast start. The teams traded blows after blows. Kohli went into overdrive mode after reaching his fifty but the South African pacers managed to end things pretty well.

West Indian T20 World Cup winner and the man who got them that iconic victory in 2016 against England, 'Remember the Name', Carlos Braithwaite places the Trophy on the podium.

Next up, the valiant runners-up team, South Africa get their runners-up cheque and the players come up one by one to collect their medals.

Aiden Markram, the skipper of South Africa starts by saying that he is gutted for the time being and it will take some time for them to reflect on this excellent campaign. Adds that the bowlers bowled well and didn't have much help from the pitch and it all came to the wire and even though it didn't happen, he is incredibly proud of his players. Mentions that in most of their games in this campaign, it wasn't over till the last ball and things could change quickly but they proved they were worthy finalists and it just didn't happen today. Adds that one thing is guaranteed that they will be known as people who are grounded but very good fighters and it is a proud moment for them.

Next up, the players of the champion Indian team come up one by one and collect their winners medals.

Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, says that it is very hard to sum up what they have been through over the last 3-4 years and this is the result of all the hard work that went down over that period. Feels that they know what to do in such high-pressure games and they stuck together as a team today when the backs were against the wall. Tells that they needed this win really bad and a lot has gone behind the scenes. Says that he is really proud of the boys and the management for giving them liberty. States that nobody was in doubt about Virat Kohli's form. Adds that they know the quality he has and come the occasion the big players will stand up. Feels that Virat's experience came through on a wicket where starting was not easy. Lauds Hardik Pandya for bowling that last over. Says that the fans were fantastic and he is sure that people in India will be up late at night, watching this.

The moment has now come for Rohit Sharma to go onto the podium and lift that coveted trophy! The Indian players join him on the podium and there are fireworks all around as the buoyant Indian players rejuvenate. The outgoing national team coach, Rahul Dravid watches on but moments later, he too joins the players and the smile on his face says it all.

Right then, what a T20 World Cup we have just witnessed. Cricket was brought to the States and the people welcomed it with open arms. The Caribbean flavour provided some immaculate excitement and we saw some stellar matches with the minnows making their mark as well. There were numerous moments throughout the tournament that will be forever etched in the memory of the players and the fans alike. Eventually, the two unbeaten teams, India and South Africa rightfully met in the final but only one of them could become the first men's side to win the T20 World Cup without losing a game and it was India who edged the Proteas in a thrilling finale to clinch their second crown. However, as all good things come to an end, this wonderful spectacle has come to an end as well, but we hope, you guys have enjoyed it as much as we have. Until next time then, take care and goodbye!
